Bike for Main Street Project is a DIY pledge and activities-based fundraising event from August 10 – September 10, 2022.

We’re encouraging all Manitobans to get some exercise and fresh air outside and help us raise funds while you’re at it. While cycling is the main activity for this new annual event, you can do other activities such as walk, run, roller skate, or cartwheel for your fundraising efforts.

Participants are welcome to start a team, join a team or join as an individual. Groups, families, and classrooms can register as a team if you like.

Once you register and log into your fundraising page, you can do fun things from your dashboard, such as personalizing your page, sending emails, and tracking your donations. It’s pretty great and fairly easy to use.

What Are We Fundraising for?

Through Bike For Main Street Project, we’re raising funds to support Main Street Project’s path toward Truth & Reconciliation.

The majority of the people we serve identify as Indigenous. We believe in amending historical relationships with Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous organizations, creating safe spaces for healing, integrating culturally appropriate perspectives, programming and staffing, and promoting access to culturally appropriate resources.

How can we do this properly? We need your support!

Things like transforming our spaces to be culturally safe, gathering medicines, and hiring Elders and Knowledge Keepers to guide the good work about Indigenous knowledge, laws, and teachings. Funds support ceremony, transporting folks to sweat lodge and pow wows, providing Skabes (helpers) in our shelter to listen with love, talk through teachings, bead, sing, drum, smudge, or just be present are examples of what we’re doing.

You can help us. We need culturally appropriate and meaningful healing in all our spaces, and we have embarked on a sincere path to make it happen.

We are implementing and strengthening the role of Main Street Project as a support, resource and connection to Indigenous-led cultural supports and services. We are committed to improving the feeling of cultural safety for Indigenous people that work at Main Street Project or use Main Street Project programs or services.
