Mainstay Transitional Housing Program
The Mainstay Residence is a supervised room and board environment that provides short-term accommodation, meals, and a stable environment for adults who are at-risk.
This transitional housing is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing support, continuity and a sense of security to residents. Mainstay is designed to allow for up to 34 residents at a time.
Transition Services staff focus their effort in a variety of areas including:
- Individualized counselling
- Client assessment
- Case planning
- Capacity building to be successful in stable permanent housing
Residents are required to work with staff in arranging sufficient funding to cover the rate. Residents living in Mainstay are referred through other MSP services or external agencies.
Using both harm reduction & housing first philosophies, we actively engage with each individual’s transition plans and goals throughout the duration of their stay. Residents often transition to safe accommodations, long-term supported housing, substance abuse treatment programs or other appropriate accommodations.
Mainstay has Transition Services Workers providing direct services to all Mainstay clients. Our team works with residents to assess, educate and prepare them for long-term success individually now and as they transition towards permanent housing.
