Tribute Donations

A tribute gift is for special occasions or milestones, and these donations are often made in lieu of an actual gift. These gifts can be for occasions such as an anniversary, a birthday, Father’s Day, or graduation. The idea here is that many of us have too much stuff already. Why not ask friends to donate to Main Street Project instead of buying another Christmas sweater? 

For many, the most meaningful way to honour the life of a relative, friend, or colleague is through a heartfelt contribution to the place that played a special role in that person’s life. 

When you make a memorial donation to the Main Street Project, you honour a special life by helping us provide the front-line programs that serve people without judgment, meet immediate needs, and provide hope so that people can realize a self-determined version of who they are and who they want to be.  Your gift will positively impact people in need. 

Making A Tribute or Memorial Donation Is Easy

Upon receipt of your donation, we will send a notification to the family that you have made a tribute or memorial gift in honour of (the amount of your donation will be kept strictly confidential). When sending a tribute donation, please include the name of the honouree, as well as the name and address of the party to notify of the gift. 

Direct Donations In Memory Of Your Loved One 

Your funeral director can help you with this. Ask your funeral home to add the following information to the printed and online obituaries.

How To Inform Guests To Donate To Main Street Project In Lieu Of Flowers 

Your funeral director can guide you on this but most commonly people write in the funeral notice: “In lieu of flowers a donation in memory of (name of loved one) to Main Street Project would be appreciated.” 

How Will You Know Who Donated In Lieu Of Flowers or Gifts 

After donations have been made in lieu of flowers, you will receive an acknowledgment letter with a summary of the thoughtful gifts of others.
