Van Patrol Outreach Program

Main Street Project’s Mobile Outreach program serves Winnipeggers living unsheltered throughout the city. Ours is the only Mobile Outreach team that operates city-wide 24/7, 365 days a year. Our services include providing basic necessities like food, water, harm reduction supplies, safe transport, immediate life-safety support, case management and permanent successful housing support.

In keeping with our collective plan, the Kíkininaw Óma Strategy, we work in partnership with the plan’s original collaborators, including the City of Winnipeg, and respond to referrals from WFPS, WPS, and 311/211.

We are also grateful to work in partnership with Van Outreach Network Partners, Downtown Community Safety Partnership, Resource Assistance for Youth, West Central Women’s Resource Centre and North End Women’s Centre, as well as Public Works and Community Services Departments to ensure the response is tailored to each community member’s needs.

In addition to community outreach, Main Street Project is a principal partner in the City of Winnipeg’s Voluntary Transport Protocol. In partnership with the Winnipeg Police Service and Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, MSP’s mobile outreach helps to alleviate stressors on the health and emergency response system by providing a consistent mode of non-emergency related transportation to assist those who may have otherwise depended on emergency services.
